Getting started for trainers
Start with one program and a small number of willing adult clients. This guide covers your trainer web workspace and the checks to make before a client begins training.
Before you start
Have your trainer account or agreed access instructions, your coaching program and the correct client email addresses ready. This walkthrough is for clients aged 18 and over working with a trainer.
Before inviting clients, make sure you have approved privacy information to share with them. If you do not, contact support before proceeding. Keep your existing coaching records available while you check the workflow, and use only the information needed for the agreed activity.
Clients need the mobile access instructions supplied for their phone. If those instructions are missing, contact support before inviting them. This guide does not change your plan or agreed access terms.
Set up your workspace
Open your trainer workspace
Sign in using the provider and account associated with your trainer access. If you are new, follow your agreed access instructions and complete the profile setup shown.
Open Dashboard and confirm you recognise the account. You can review your details through Profile in the navigation.
Invite your first client
Open Invitations, choose Invite Client, then enter Client Name and Email Address. Check the recipient before selecting Send Invitation.
Ask the client to use the invitation and the installation instructions for their phone. In Clients, confirm the intended person has joined. Check that their app shows the correct trainer before sharing a program.
Build your first program
Open Programs and choose New program. Enter a clear Name and Description. For a multi-week program, enable Periodization to reveal Duration (weeks), then choose the number of weeks. Review the other options and select Save program.
Use Add workout to create a workout. Open that workout and use Add exercises to choose exercises, then review the training details. Use the Save controls when editing. Return to Programs and reopen the program to check the workouts and prescriptions were retained.
Check the client view before training
Creating a program in your library is separate from assigning it to a client. If you need help with the assignment step, contact support.
After saving an assignment, leave and reopen it. Check the intended program and workout days are still there, then compare them with the client's app. Confirm the correct trainer, program and session details before the client starts.
After the client records a session, ask them to reopen the saved record. In Clients, open their record and choose Workout history to review the corresponding activity. A home-screen completion card alone is not proof that a record was saved or lost.
If saving fails or an assignment disappears, note the error, time and device. Avoid repeated assignments, duplicate accounts or repeated submissions while a request is pending.
Find your way around
- Clients
- Open a client record to find their details, Trainer Notes, Check-ins, Messages and Workout history. Check the client name before entering or sending anything.
- Check-ins
- From a client record, open Check-ins. Create template lets you prepare questions; Save template retains the template. Review it before choosing Assign to client. Returned updates appear under Check-in submissions.
- Messages
- Open Messages from the intended client's record. Start with a brief coaching message and confirm receipt with the client; do not assume a notification was delivered.
- Schedule
- Schedule is the calendar for dated sessions. New Session lets you review the title, timezone, start, end and clients before choosing Create Session. Calendar sessions and the workout days in a program assignment are separate tasks.
- Payment questions
- A trainer's JFit software plan and a client's coaching subscription are separate. Use Help for payment questions. Review any plan or coaching payment separately before confirming it.
Common questions
Do I need to move every client at once?
No. Start with a small number of willing adult clients and one coaching workflow. Check the saved program, client access and recorded activity before moving more of your work.
What if an invitation is not recognised?
Check that the client is using the account the invitation was intended for. Tell support if an email alias may be involved, together with the error and device details. Do not create a second account or keep resending invitations to troubleshoot it.
What should I include in feedback?
Describe the task, steps, expected result and what happened, with the approximate time, time zone and app or browser version. Do not send passwords, sign-in codes, card details or private client information. See the help page for reporting guidance and contacts.
